Despite a very strong hatred of Jazz music, I thought this film about a jazz drummer trying to make it in an elite music school was superb. True, there is jazz music throughout which would usually burn my ears but I hardly noticed because of the onscreen battle between the 2 leads.
J.K.Simmons was excellent as the psychopathic teacher and Miles Teller holds his own as the bullied student. It's quite an achievement to create so much onscreen tension in a film about jazz drumming.
