Definitely impressive performances by j.k. simmons - deserved his oscar - and miles teller. also, a great study of two characters and the drive, passion, and possibly ill obsession with music. however, somehow the 'spark' of the movie was lost on me, possibly i'm not into (jazz) music enough myself.
