With tension as stable as the beat of the drums in this film, Whiplash muses over interesting questions about today's sense of achievement and definition of hard work, and although it gives you a huge "oh well" as an answer, it remains to be a satisfying watch with taut, high-strung performances from Miles Teller and J.
K. Simmons.
