Review of Whiplash (2014) by Matt C — 29 May 2017
Brilliant, I know I can seem like a contrary twat most of the time but I really didn't particularly care for Chazelle's film 'La La Land' as a result my excitement had been a little curtailed for his earlier effort.
Well this is just brilliant, one of the best films I've seen in years. The pace of the movie starts at 100mph and never lets up. Teller and Simmons are both brilliant, believable and multi-faceted.
Simmons has always been a great actor ever since his days on 'Oz' so it's a real joy to see him discover a role that he was born to play. Soundtrack is off the charts brilliant and it all moves to a finale that will make you want to tap your foot and punch the air.
