Whiplash is one of those movies that only comes along once in a while. It hits you on every level. While J.K Simmons character seems like a a monster but you come to realize that he is the symbol in Andrews career that he needed to become great.
Perhaps out of his want to find the next best player he takes things to far but you see that in the end it gets the results.
