Review of Whiplash (2014) by Ian S — 25 Dec 2015
Damien Chazelle did a brilliant job. JK Simmons and Miles Teller, outstanding performances. I saw a lot of suspenseful tension, which is good in this type of film. One of my favorite scenes, is when Neeman forgot his drumsticks at the rental car dealership and he had to drive all the way back but on the way back to the studio, he gets in the car accident, and then he gets back to the studio all bloody and messed up and JK Simmons is like "holy sh*t".
I love this scene because it shows Neeman's determination towards this Jazz Band, and it also shows that JK Simmons character has a soul, he made him stop drumming because it looked like he was gonna drop dead, it also shows that he has a breaking point where enough is enough, even though in a earlier scene he said "get your blood off my drum set".
The last scene of the movie is also incredibly well done, the intensity filled the theater when I watched it.
