Review of Whip It (2009) by Movie G — 23 Aug 2011
I was pleasantly surprised by how great this movie was. The story of an average girl who becomes a roller derby star, Whip It works in every way. It is hilarious, but in a subtle kind of way. You will often laugh at things that aren't obvious jokes.
Hats off to Drew Barrymore for directing this movie, she does well. Jimmy Fallon has a hilarious role as the announcer who just tries to get with all the roller girls, and fails miserably. Ellen Page is fantastic, but always seems to play the same character, but then again so has Clint Eastwood and he's had a nearly 50 year career and been nominated for 2 oscars for it.
I would highly recommend this movie to anybody looking for something a little different in their comedies.
