Whip It is a fun movie. It is about girls feeling empowered and also teaches all of us that it's important to do what makes us happy. The acting is very good. I love Ellen Page. She is always so likeable and pretty.
Marcia Gay Harden turns in another fine performance as usual and the supporting actors all fill their roles nicely. I thought that the roller derby scenes appeared to be very well done. I think that the whole romance between Bliss and Oliver could have been done better.
I never really cared about his character and didn't feel it added a whole lot to the story. Bliss's other relationships, however, like with her parents, Pash, and her teammates all had a lot of depth.
Lastly, there are some pretty nice songs in this movie that seem to fit well. Check it out.
