Who would've thought it? Drew Barrymore's directorial debut is well worth it because she actually makes a really good movie here with Whip It! Drew Barrymore is a good actress but I never pictured her in the director's chair but she actually did a good job here.
The only real problems with the film is that it is cliched' and a bit predictable. Those are only minor quibbles though as this movie is a lot of fun. It has a load of charm, energy, wit, good humor, and good performances from the cast.
Ellen Page is without a doubt going to become an award-winning actress and it shows here. Despite following formula, I really liked Whip It a lot. Pleasantly surprised!
