This was Drew Barrymore's film directional debut, and it was a really good watch. Tackling the sport of roller-derby, the Ellen Page-played character Bliss rebels against her middle-American pageant-loving mother and joins a down-in-their luck team, who seem happy to keep losing.
However she has a natural talent for the sport and the team enjoy a rollercoaster ride to the Championship Final. Alia Shawkat is entertaining as the best friend, and this movie is given a real surprise thumbs-up.
