The movie has a good amount of annoying cliche stuff. But these characters and the actors playing them are so much fun that you get over it real quick. During the promo tour for the movie all the cast could talk about was how much fun they had making it.
That usually means it sucks. But 'Whip It' is rare because you feel like you're right there with the cast having a good time.
