It's just very mediocre. At times it's funny, but the laughs are few and far between. At times it's dramatic, but the conflict is very connect-the-dot and only heats up for ten worthwhile minutes.
I like the idea of incorporating roller derby into the film, but found that specific part of it to be poorly executed. It's both giving too much information about the sport, yet not enough (which is an achievement in itself I guess).
That being said, I didn't hate "Whip It". Just found it to be generic.
