The perfect small-town roller derby movie. You will love it.
Big hearted, fresh, tough-n-tender, Drew-Barrymore-crazy all over it. I completely enjoyed this film, many times over on dvd.
Bought the disc and play it often, just for the camaraderie, the laughs, and the underdog story. It's a coming-of-age story too, with Ellen Page playing the scruffy underdog struggling to fit into her mom's pageant dreams, but finding salvation at the derby track.
Several cuss words, but exhilarating throughout.
These players got it - perfectly pitched for this movie.
You'll realize afterwards that sometimes you don't need a big budget or to "break new ground" in a movie when it's done this well.
