Caught this film late one night and I must say it was a pleasant surprise. Bliss (Ellen Page) is a young Texan teen who finds a roller derby scene and signs up behind the back of her perfectionist mother and under the thumb father, and then to her surprise, becomes the belle of the derby.
Her team and the league are full of famous faces and it is the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore.. Everything works well in this film, the typical coming of age, first time romance, except in the guise of the life of the hardcore roller derby scene where it's all bruises and elbows.
Main downside is that it does go on, would have been just as good as a 90 minute film. Still, it is a good film and lots of fun.
