With plot points very similar to "Bend it Like Beckham", this gurrl sport movie is still different enough to be enjoyable. Bliss (Ellen Page) learns the highs and lows of asserting her independence on the roller derby arena, discovering interdependence along the way.
Marcia Gay Harden is the show stopper in this - playing a mother we love to hate, perfectionist, flawed and REAL.
