Review of While You Were Sleeping (1995) by David C — 24 Jul 2010
Forget 'Sleepless in Seattle', for here is the real thing! 'While you were Sleeping' is a warm, heartfelt story of one woman's passage into love, friendship and family ties.
One day, Lucy (Bullock) witnesses a robbery of city high-flyer, Peter (Gallagher), in an empty train Chicago station, of which she is an employee. After rescuing him from the tracks to which he was pushed, Lucy follows him to the hospital and the Nightmarish dream begins. By thinking out-loud about her true feelings for the stranger, a nurse overhears her and mixes up the airwaves to the family of the victim. Being mistaken for Peter's Fiancée, his large family clings to her and escape is impossible. After meeting with Peter's brother while he lays in a coma, Lucy and Jack, get to know each other and new love is on the cards.
A sweet movie for the whole family, including teenage boys, as the films entirety breaks-out from the cheese filling other Romantic-Comedys in today's cinema.
