Giving this just a 4 star for the time being; I know myself and I over analyze my favorite Director and Writers new works when I first see them. I always go in with preconceived notions from their earlier works and think I know what I want from something and then I get something a little bit different and I get a tad bit disappointed.
The only thing about this film that left a bitter taste in my mouth was how it starts unraveling a little bit towards the end so awkwardly. It felt a little bit contrived to me. The film does do a lot of right, though! It's just as scathing as all of Baumbach's earlier work, but this time aimed a little more dead center and he nails it.
Even if he stumbles a little bit of the way getting to his poignant, sharp point.
