Review of While We're Young (2015) by Dolan W — 29 Apr 2015
While We're Young is Ben Stiller's latest offering to cinema. It tells the story of a NY couple in their 40's with no children. Their age appropriate friends are all having children and after meeting a young couple in their 20's, they find themselves torn. Hang out with friends who are entering parenthood, or hang out with the hipster young crowd. This movie does a really good job at showing the decisions that we make as adults who want to stay young and hip, but who also sees the benefits of living life as an adult. Grown up style.
Although, not quite a comedy, there are plenty of laughs in this film. Some with the characters, some at the characters. It really struck a chord with me so I feel a strong connection with Stiller's character.
It also shows the ridiculousness of life, no matter what stage you are going through. Funky hats, learning to swaddle, and how to merge each with your own self. This movie is like a great scotch. If you LOVE scotch then you will adore this film. If scotch isn't your thing, then no matter how good it is, it is still scotch. I love scotch.
