Review of While She Was Out (2008) by Hannah S — 03 Nov 2008
Bereft of a UK cinema release, this direct to DVD movie may see a limited release in US cinemas. It's certainly deserving of a theatrical release, given that it's superior to many DTV releases of its kind. Whilst the ending lets it down, the rest of the story is surprisingly intense and violent.
The few hokey moments are forgiven by Basinger's scared yet warrior-like performance (she can do fearful so realistically). Not often do we see average women on film react to violence and intimidation like this, particularly in the scene when she first meets her attackers. A toolbox is the new handbag...
