Review of Where the Wild Things Are (2009) by Joshua O — 31 Jan 2012
Where the Wild Things Are is not a movie for kids. This is a movie that take you on a trip to a kids imagination. In our imagination, we all think that we can rule over the world and make everything ok.
Unfortunately, real life has a way of leaking in and causing chaos. The Wild Thins are all manifestations of different people and feelings in Max's life. So all the Wild Things have a lot of issues.
They don't understand why they feel how they do, but that doesn't stop them from asking why they feel that way. You still with me? WtWTA doesn't have the sense of wonderment or adventure that incredible trailer suggests, but it is a solid film.
More of a downer than anything else. If that's your cup of tea, have at it. If not, you might just wait for video.
