Review of Where the Wild Things Are (2009) by Jesse B — 01 Apr 2012
Although it drags in parts, Where The Wild Things Are, a very personal film for Spike Jonze taps into the confusing mind of a growing Max, played by a rather annoying Max Records (was it on purpose?). The Wild Things, a mixture of ugly, scary and sweet looking creatures designed to personify different emotions and family members for viewers who look hard into them.
But what is most striking is how Spike Jonze derives perfect performances out of his voice cast. I'll find it hard not to revisit this film sometime in the future and deriving more and more out of it as I *shudder* grow older.
