Review of Where the Wild Things Are (2009) by Kelby L — 08 Apr 2012
Incredibly dull & boring about a boy who craves attention & resorts to unnecessary violence & temper tam-drums if he doesn't get his own way. He runs away from home & basically escapes into his own fantasy where he finds an island full of weird creatures who are just as unpredictable as he is with their emotions all over the place.
He gets his wish for attention & love as they make him king. But things don't go as planned as he fails to control the creatures unpredictability. He soon realises the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence & returns home.
And that's it! Just full of unnecessary wanton destruction of the landscape & fighting between the creatures. No direction nor a decent plot. The film feels ad hoc & feels thrown together with no real connection with any of the characters.
