Review of Where the Wild Things Are (1975) by Jordan F — 14 Feb 2012
THIS IS NOT A KIDS MOVIE. Im guessing they aimed this film for the audience that grew up with the book because there is just wayyy too many deep emotions and issues way too mature for younger audiences to comprehend or even begin how to deal with.
It was filmed extremely well and was deeply thought-provoking at times. The special effects were great and is directed superbly by the only man who I think could do the job right, Spike Jonze. Bottom line, fans of the book will either love it or hate it.
I loved it, children will doubtfully be able to enjoy it and grasp it. Didnt feel like a family film to me on account of all the thematic material.
