Review of Where the Truth Lies (1999) by Benjamin M — 09 Apr 2008
I enjoy Egoyan's films because he's always giving us alternate views - a sure sign of a true Canadian. Our world is not what it seems and he unveils more truths as his films roll along. This one' s a great example of this.
There's solid acting, directing, mood and enough of a mystery (and some nice eroticism) to keep us engaged. People talk about the heightened sexuality of this film as if it's a big deal - they're light-weights.
Watch Cronenberg's Crash then ask yourself how bold this film is.
