Sex, sex, sex......and drugs. Lots of sex and lots of drugs is what you're in for watching this film. There's something haunting, or traumatizing, that sticks in your mind long after this film.
Yes, it is THAT scene who anyone who's seen this movie will remember. It just makes me wonder, why? Why would Alison Lohman, an actress I've come to know and love, agree to do a scene like that? If it was any other actress I wouldn't have cared, but because it was Alison.
..Maybe she needed the money. An Atom Egoyan film would definately pay. That's not to say she didn't give a great performance, which she did. Kevin Bacon was excellent. Colin Firth was a little shaky, flat at times, but could convey a feeling of inner torture not often let out of the box perfectly.
Bacon, on the other hand, was the opposite. He let his feelings be known, often drunk's he may be. Rachel Blanchard, mainly used as eye candy, is nothing memorable outside her sex scenes, one of the various array of sex scenes in the film.
Kristin Adams is...high...really. Lohman and Bacon give the two most memorable performances, though all anyone is really going to remember is the sex. Firth was fantastic, but somehow forgettable. An honest portrayal of the showbiz life, I guess.
Loaded with sex and drugs and more sex. Not unenjoyable, but really, Alison, really? I should probably be pointing the finger at Egoyan, though. B-.
