Review of Where the Heart Is (2000) by Ted C — 06 Jan 2014
Having bought this DVD for just £0.20 and read the poor reviews on RT, I didn't have very high expectations for this movie, which was great because it just made it all the more enjoyable for me.
I admit that I am a big fan of Natalie Portman and she's the reason why I took on this 2 hr Rom-Com, but I'm a fan of Ashley Judd too, and she didn't disappoint.
Lots to love about this film and whilst I was watching it, it felt like a movie adaptation of a book, which it is (the film is based on the novel by Billie Letts (1995).
This is the first comment I've left on RT, even though it's been one of my favourite websites for the last two years. Since I've not been sleeping all that well of late, I thought I'd give it a thumbs up as it really isn't that bad as some would have you believe.
Definitely a film for the ladies, but easily enough twists and turns to interest your S.O. on Movie Night.
The film could have done with a little shortening (perhaps 15-20 mins) and the humour could have been a little more outrageous, but I guess the screenwriter didn't want to take too many liberties with Billie Letts novel.
I'm glad I took a chance on this unlikely winner.
