Review of Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) by Robomartion — 22 Jul 2022
Reviewers saying the girl is not scruffy enough are stupid. I'm sure she could work out how to take a swim by the time she was an adult.
The worst thing about the movie was that it is chopped up into back and forth flashbacks that made the movie feel shorter than it was, and you never get long enough to be immersed by which time you swung back into the future. Good casting overall except the main actress is a bit weird looking but I think that is intentional. The scenes in the courtroom also never really reach the agonising levels of tension required to keep you on your toes and rooting for her to win. Overall the payoff at the end is a decent one but it was unnecessary to make the film so disjointed but perhaps the filmmakers experimented with different orders and thought that was the best way to tell the story. I am not convinced the child and adult versions could really be the same person. I think the movie did a good job and its actually surprisingly free of agenda for this type of female leading movie. No wokism and a great cast.
