I liked this movie better than "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" Like in Hunter's life (his real one), I am not sure how much was real and how much was fictionalized, you get the feeling that the writers were quite liberal here.
As usual, Bill Murray pegged the part perfectly, he is truly a great actor. This movie was released a year before Stripes was. I realized tonight the difference between a great actor and a great character actor - Murray is a great actor, Johnny Depp is a great character actor, in roles that Depp couldn't copy someone, he's not that good in, same with Val Kilmer, he was dead-on as Doc Holiday or Jim Morrison but leave him to create a character and they're usually flat.
Anyway, I digress, if you're a Hunter Thomas fan or am curious about the man, watch this movie.
