Review of Where the Buffalo Roam (1980) by Vig S — 11 Jul 2008
Quite a marvellous portrayal of Thompson, in a surprisingly good turn by Bill Murray. He's an amazing actor, but he has earned a reputation for playing the same type of character. In this he really does emulate the vocal style of our hero in this one.
He does an excellent job as Thompson as the story progresses. If you love Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, then you'll love and appreciate the characters once again in this. I personally prefer F&L as a whole because of Gilliam's rather unique style and understanding of narcotic effects.
.. But I love WtBR because of the full-on characterisation of Hunter S Thompson.
