Review of Where the Buffalo Roam (1980) by Terry P — 28 Oct 2008
Quite a difficult film to rate, since the viewing was influenced both by the Terry Gilliam version and by the public image of Hunter S. Thompson himself. Quite enjoyable to watch. Bill Murray does a pretty good job, bringing much of Hunter's personality to the screen, while managing to restrain his "Bill-ness.
" A bit of a pastiche of sketches, with a pretty unsatisfying story arc, but perhaps the situations were more enjoyable when considering how they related to the true Hunter. An interesting contrast to the Gilliam version.
