Obviously he's not really expecting to find him, so the whole film almost seems pointless in the end. And him asking everyone where Osama is throughout the movie was really redundant and annoying but overall, I enjoyed watching this.
It becomes instead something else, an interesting look at the people and the community, all the stuff you don't see on the news. And I did enjoy some of his subtle humor here and there as well.
