Review of Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008) by Ian S — 12 Aug 2008
A pointless gimmick bereft of entertainmnet, substance or anything new to say. This follow up documentary to the vastly superior Supersize Me fails on every level. It isn't funny and you learn nothing. It opens with Spurlock (who appears to have become a bit of a cock since he got famous) posing the question "Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden" If he had answered that question this would be a revelation. But obviously he never gets close. Spurlock achieves nothing more than any regular student with a camera. Sure he gets attacked by some Jews (the one interesting scene with some tension) but has nothing to do but stand there and say "we should probably get out of here".
Worst of all is a manipulative, irrelevant and totally lame subplot regarding Spurlock's pregnant wife. The idea being he's on a mission to rid the world of evil so his unborn son can grow up in safety............bollocks. I guess the revenue from this film will at least ensure the little fucker gets an expensive education. Boycott this film, he deserves to go to a rough inner city school!
