Another well-made documentary from Morgan Spurlock. While the contrived premise of searching for Osama Bin Laden was a bit silly (okay. REALLY silly), Spurlock's ability to have candid conversations with people all over the middle east was the highlight of the film.
Through these conversations, Spurlock shows us that while there are extremists causing terror, there are people just like us living throughout the middle east who are nothing like - and even detest - the extremists who vow "Death to America".
His visit to Israel and then to the occupied territories is eye opening and disturbing as peace within that region seems so possible but without more give and take from each side, we're not going to get any closer.
I appreciate that Spurlock didn't really take any sides. He just did his best to show us how people like us live around in the middle east, the US's obvious effects on their lives and how religion aside, they really are like us, living in darker circumstances than we'll ever imagine.
I recommend checking out the deleted scenes on the DVD which include an eye opening interview with three women living in Saudi Arabia.
