Review of Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008) by Martin G — 27 May 2009
A really good documentary. The first 15 minutes or so had me laughing out loud. I also love the cartoons he uses that briefly explain the histories behind the US and Middle Eastern relationships. It's a very funny movie, though towards the middle it gets more serious. It puts a more friendly face on the people whom we are told to fear. He talks to the regular people who hate violence and also to the people who revere Bin Laden, showing us that most Middle Easterners, in fact, hate him. Certain types of Americans might find it hard to digest the criticism of American foreign policy since everyone knows that everything America does is just and good (sarcasm). But it's thought-provoking and eye-opening to hear what regular Middle Easterners think of our policies.
Overall, this was better than "Supersize Me" and more informative. Morgan Spurlock is less confrontational than Michael Moore and I just love his sense of humor. Watch and learn.
