Review of Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008) by Mike C — 21 Jan 2010
Wow, Kyle Smith can't take a joke. Get a fucking clue. The title is not meant to be taken literally: Spurlock is not really going after bin laden. In the process of asking the question, however, we do get to see some average Muslims and hear their opinions.
I'm a fairly avid reader and news watcher, and I'm actually not sure I've ever heard those before. Our media is so filtered that this is about as good as look as anything I've seen on the subject.
There is a fair amount of information, and just as much entertainment. In particular, the ridiculous terrorist baseball cards are funny, as is the one man's serious explanation that America cannot be believed because we make movies with animals that talk like humans.
What is not funny...the politics Spurlock mentions. The Kyle Smith's of the world can bitch all they want, but Spurlock and others who do the same are on to something. We like our freedom, but a lot of the time, it comes at an extraordinary cost to the freedom of others.
