Review of Where Eagles Dare (1968) by Ewan G — 11 Feb 2010
WWII, English Special Forces & an American Assassin have mission to rescue an American Captain prisoned in a Nazi castle, twists & turns, deceit & nonsense.
Bit of an odd one this.
Richard Burton is great with the dialogue but looks way out of his depth in the action sequences. Clint Eastwood hardly says much although Mary Ure is very good & it's got Ingrid Pitt in it!!
The action scenes are a bit daft too with most things exploding after being shot & the German soldiers with their atrocious shooting.
The scenery in nice though.
