Review of When You're Strange (2010) by David C — 19 Apr 2010
This is a fantastic documentary, and the best piece of celluloid we Doors fans have been given thus far. It isn't exactly groundbreaking, but it knows when to just indulge in archive footage and Morrison's poetry, and the when all is said and done we are treated to a kind of hypnotic history lesson about one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Also of interest are the sequences from Morrison's UCLA student film, inter-cut between valuable and unique concert footage. If nothing else, this is a wonderful alternative to Stone's fictional 90s botching.
