Review of When Worlds Collide (1951) by Asa B — 06 Sep 2007
Noah's Ark for the early (Truman Administration) Space Age. The FX in the disaster sequence are good for the time. The acting is mostly bad, much of the story is laughable, and the backdrop at the conclusion looks like it was made for a junior high school play, but the film does deal with end-of-the-world issues and themes that are perennial staples of sci fi, and that, one hates to admit, mankind could actually face at any time.
Still, overall, the movie only holds interest as a historic artifact of a simpler time.
