Review of When Will I Be Loved (2004) by Ben R — 13 Aug 2008
Awful, awful movie. The early scenes seem to be improvised off the cuff by actors unskilled in improve (yes, even Neve), what writing there is is woefully pretentious, the characters are annoying and uninteresting, and when the movie finally settles on a plot it blatantly lifts one from 'Indecent Proposal'.
At least from that point, the acting does improve marginally. Too bad there's no one to root for. Warning signals should have gone off when the movie's whole marketing push was Neve's nude scenes (shower scenes bookending the film).
And the ultimate insult comes from the shameless use of Beethoven, Bach, and Brahms to score much of the film. Blasphemy! Stay away!
