Review of When We Were Kings (1996) by Cresswell S — 09 Jun 2007
"Ali Bom I ye".
This means Ali kill him. When we were Kings is the documenary about of the most famous fights of all time, the Rumble in the Jungle.
It follows Ali as he traines to fight the monster that is George Foreman.
Ali was the Greatest champion of all time, he could defeat his you with his mind and taunts long before you stepped in to the ring with him. Foreman was having non of this.
Long he for his foreman grills, Foreman was a monster. He hit so hard that he would cave in the heavy bag. For the first time Ali was scared of his rival, knowing that he will be destroyed if he went toe to toe with Foreman, Ali created the "Rope a dope".
He would lean way back in the ropes and let Foreman tire himself out. During the 8th round Ali whisperd to Foreman, "Is that all you got?".
It was, and Foreman lost the fight. For any Boxing fan like myself this is a must see.
