Review of When We Were Kings (1996) by Jj M — 04 May 2011
It is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Very true and solid about how these 2 boxers (Ali and Foreman) were true kings in the ring. What I like about is that this docu shows not only about an upcoming fight of Ali or Foreman, but also how they live in everyday life. Also, we get to focus more themes like political and racial issues that most of the black people today are facing, and as you saw in this docu, Ali met several personalities who are also black, and as well featured in this docu.
I guess this is really a great film. Whether you're a boxing fan or not, still you will appreciate this docu as much as you would ever thought of. Did we forgot Mike Tyson, also a black boxer, but if you wanna know more about him, then watch that docu film called "Tyson", and I haven't seen that one. Last thing, where would Ali and Foreman be at this moment, I'm sure they're old and still playing boxing, ON VIDEO GAMES, joke!!!
