Review of When We First Met (2018) by Wafflereviews — 10 Mar 2018
Say hello to a film that you've seen 6,000 times before. When We First Met adds virtually nothing new to the table, and doesn't have much to offer. It's one of the most basic and predictable movies I've seen in a long time, and even fails on a comedy standpoint.
Adam Devine has caught my eye recently, he always brings this energy to every film he's in, and he always steals the show. You can tell that he gives every role his all, and I admire him for that. Yet again, he shines in this movie.
He's one of the best physical comedians in the past ten years, even if he still hasn't been in a great film, he has a lot of potential. In short, Adam Devine is a diamond in this vomit of a film. It's watchable, don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible film by far.
I wouldn't say it was disappointing, because with a plot like this, I don't think it was ever going to be great. If you're a sucker for rom-coms, go watch it, it's on Netflix and it's only ninety minutes, just don't expect much.
