Review of When We First Met (2018) by Bridget B — 27 Jul 2018
This movie messes with the idea of love at first sight, so it's ironic that after seeing it on a whim, I loved it immediately. The writing is exceptional and unpredictable, even in small details. The performers capture the rhythms of friendship and love in endearingly real ways.
It's such a pleasure to see Adam Devine try what I've tried many times myself; attempt to force something as magical and mysterious as love to happen when actually, it's gonna take it's own frustrating, confusing time.
That's what's funny in the movie and in life; with some things, the harder you try, the more ridiculous it gets. Best damn reality check ever and perfect for a summer afternoon.
