Review of When the Game Stands Tall (2014) by Ken M — 24 Aug 2014
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I need to say at the top that De La Salle is a Catholic High School so this film has strong Christian dialogue and scripture use so if that turns you off this may not be the film for you.
With that out of the way I enjoyed this film a lot. It had a lot of heart and I really cared about the players which is hard when you have so many. They had unique qualities that made them stand apart from each other.
Jim Caviezel was really good as the head coach and Michael Chicklis was good as his assistant. Going into this film you should think more "Facing the Giants" with better acting than "Any Given Sunday" with that distinction I think you'll be more prepared to accept it for what it is.
