Review of When Harry Met Sally... (1989) by Grant F — 07 Jul 2012
While I had owned "When Harry Met Sally" for years, I had surprisingly never watched it. There was always another movie to watch or something else to do. After hearing of Nora Ephron's untimely death, though, I felt compelled to finally watch this cinematic classic.
After viewing the movie, I could have kicked myself for not watching it sooner. "When Harry Met Sally" is one of those rare romantic comedies that isn't cheesy. It was smart, funny, and realistic.
It was also interesting viewing the movie in 2012 and seeing Meg Ryan at her best. Ryan played the role of Sally perfectly. She was endearing and sincere yet strong-willed. It's been a long time since Meg Ryan was relevant in Hollywood (mostly due to her own self-destruction) but if she could tap back into what she put into the character Sally, she has the innate talent to be successful.
I definitely recommend this movie if you're looking for an intelligent and witty movie with a little bit of romance.
