Review of When Harry Met Sally... (1989) by Dan G — 30 Nov 2013
The scene where Billy Crystal eats grapes in the car made me physically nauseous. Am I the only one who got nauseous over that? This movie is filled with unlikeliness, disjointed groups of friends from college who somehow know each other, and a philosophy that only occurs in some Hollywood world.
First of all, Billy Crystal's and Meg Ryan's characters both have the worst long-term memory of all time. They forget each other, forget friends from college, and basically forget to work, too (at least FEIGN a job scene please).
I'd think "hey, that's just a quirk in their characters," but all their friends seem to think the same way. Oh Well. Slap a Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr ending on this an call it a classic I guess.
Gotta hand it to Crystal, though. He managed to make a star's living despite getting rejected from the Saturday Night Live cast countless times until they were desperate one season.
