Review of When Harry Met Sally... (1989) by Al P — 03 Apr 2010
I liked it. I'm not gonna lie. It's completely traditional while intelligent in a she-Allen sorta way and it also doesn't make you puke when you reach the end because you sort of want that ending to happen instead of the actors or filmmakers cramming it down your throat like in most movies.
Reiner really had something going pre-Y2K. Where he lost that sense for a good script is beyond me. Other surprises were Barry Sonnenfeld, yet again proving he's on hell of a photographer (though one terrible filmmaker), and Billy Crystal, who I'd always thought of as a funny schmuck but actually shows an amazing vulnerable, sensitive side in this picture.
It felt nice to watch a Hollywood romance that didn't suck.
