“When I usually watch romantic movies, I always expect the same facts and the same prototypical behaviour. However, it was the opposite. When Harry Met Sally (WHMS) might be some of the most gut-wrenching and formidable old-fashioned movie I have seen in a lifetime”.

Technically, as I wanted to be well-informed about the cinema, I proposed to myself watching flicks from the last century. Hence, I asked myself: How can I begin a great quantity of movies in a sympathetic way? In the meantime, I was taking into account the possibility of choosing a genre I always like: The romantic ones. Nonetheless, before we reach this point, I have to tell you that the nowadays romantic movies are just bad. Indeed, there are some exceptions along the way but do not dream to much my friend. The problem with this genre is that you always see a couple meeting for the first time, discussing, and solving problems magically. Fair enough! Yet it sometimes can be touching, the emotion and the creativity lacks completely from each performance. With WHMS all the formula disappeared, meaning that there were some outstanding shoots and scenes where I craved for participating or saying a little sentence, where my heart broke into a million pieces, where I collapsed due to a bad decision. REMEMBER, when a movie makes you feel this way is because you already engaged with it and captured more than a simple attention. PEOPLE! We talk about beyond couple affairs! It’s about reflecting the little things in life we denominate “love”, surpassing difficulties with a person you have met for more than a decade, getting over bad experiences, and more. You see, when we talk about love we do not stick with a couple. The word “love” is a process which might take ages to comprehend and to apply in your daily life. Twentieth-first century movies cannot show this beautiful definition, but WHMS did it in a fun, hilarious, touching way no movie was so close to achieve it. It talks about more than a simple relationship between men and women. It is bowing to ridiculousness and life experiences with the ones you love. Everything is summarised within a 90-minute movie. Fantastic, isn’t it? Because the sensations are felt, the interaction is genuinely crafted and the development is just precise when you need it. Overall, there is no such first-rate romantic movie as WHMS whatsoever.
