Yes it is in some ways your typical hollywood rom-com. However, there is something that rings true about these two characters that makes them easy for people to connect with, and that's the mark of a good rom-com.
The other thing is that their relationship isn't this magical amazing romance that springs up out of nothing... like a truly great relationship it took time and effort from both sides and all in all was well done.
Darn good acting, too. Billy Crystal was great playing off Meg Ryan and they really showed chemistry as a couple. It was also very well directed. The more Rob Reiner I see, the more I like. For those who hate rom-coms, I can't recommend this, but for people looking for a good date movie or something.
.. this is a surefire choice.
