Review of When a Man Loves a Woman (1994) by Anna S — 22 May 2009
It's okay to like this movie and I happen to love it. The movie is actually really good, probably one of the best within its genre (90s romantic drama), and I always watch it whenever there's a re-run on TV (the same with similar movies like: "When Harry Met Sally", "French Kiss", "Addicted to Love", etc.). It gets sappy in parts but so what? The acting doesn't suffer because of it and neither does the movie as a whole.
Meg Ryan capitalized on this kind of role all throughout the 90s. She played variations of it in most of her movies during that time. This is what she's good at and she does it well! Overall, I have a soft spot for 90s Meg Ryan romantic comedies/dramas. There I said it!
